Get more qualified candidates with one quick fix.
Vague job titles and job descriptions will kill your hiring budget and bottleneck your hiring efforts. Candidates typically won't know the nuances in of the job details if you aren't specific about what your needs are as a company.
For example…
Job Title: "Account Manager"
The problem? There is no clarity about industry, experience, or location.
Job Title: "Software Developer"
There is no clarity about the tech stack, remote/on-site, full-stack, back-end or front-end.
Without clarity around your job titles, you run the risk of attracting dozens of very general candidates. A solution to this is to add some quick details about the position in the title. We want to attract as many relevant candidates as possible.
"Senior .NET Developer (Full Stack) - Washington DC, On-site"
"Digital Marketing Account Manager (Health & Beauty), Chicago, Hybrid"
"Senior Business Development Manager (Construction), Baltimore Hybrid"
"Senior Pricing Manager (Logistics & Trucking), Dallas, On-Site”
Another interesting example is around the “Engineer” title, I recently had a client need a lead engineering manager for various civil engineering related projects. If I simply made a job post for an “Engineering Manager” I would have been inundated with software engineers, system engineers, chemical engineers, as well as civil engineering professionals. This can drain my recruiting budget and waste valuable time if I don’t fix this.
This was alleviated by a simple fix…
"Engineering Manager (Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Structural, Architectural) - Columbus, Ohio - Hybrid
This immediately provides applicants with more context to the position (location, industry, and working requirements) and deters unqualified candidates.
Candidates are applying to multiple jobs at once and often don't have time to deeply investigate some of the critical nuances of each open position. Try to present the information in a way that clearly and simply relays the immediate employer need.
The more clarity you provide, the more relevant candidates you will attract.
